History of the bears

The Vancouver Bears were founded during the inaugural season of the United States Basketball League (USBL), representing the next evolution of professional basketball in Vancouver. The organization carries forward the foundation established by the Vancouver Volcanoes, retaining the same ownership group that guided the team’s return to professional competition in The Basketball League (TBL) in recent seasons.

With the launch of the USBL, the organization embraced a rebrand that reflects renewed energy, purpose, and ambition. The Vancouver Bears honor the history that shaped the franchise while moving confidently into a new era—one focused on competitive excellence, community connection, and long-term growth within a revitalized league.
